I am a member of the Milan City Council and also David Beckham’s new neighbour.I was surprised to read that my neighbourhood is viewed a sort of “red light district”.Of course there is some prostitution, that’s true, but when I was younger I spent two summers between Earl’s Court and Notting Hill in London, and in comparison I really feel safer in my current neighbourhood.I think that sometimes when English newspapers speak about Italy, they have a prejudice, but I want to assure David Beckham that Paolo Maldini gave him a good advice to come to this part of the city. Via Plinio and Via Amedeo d’Aosta are really quite safe and, in my opinion, surely a good place to grow children up. I grew up on those streets as well, so welcome David, don’t worry about what the press says.
